Torri Moretti: Silvia Turati at Ponzio – Il colore del progetto

Colour as an element of architectural identity, between heritage and innovation.

Redeveloping a significant 20th-century building means understanding its original architectural language, preserving its value while reinterpreting it to meet contemporary needs.

This is the approach that guided our intervention on the Torri Moretti in Piazzale Flaminio, Rome, where colour played a central role in the process of restoring and enhancing the building’s architectural identity.

Through the study of Luigi Moretti’s original drawings, stratigraphic analyses, and extensive research into materials and finishes, we reconstructed the project’s original colour palette: from very dark bronze to golden bronze, through the shades of the glazed surfaces and the white of the concrete elements.

This process allowed us to restore the visual coherence of the façades, integrating new technological solutions while respecting the building’s original identity.

During the event “Il colore del progetto – Finiture, materia e identità architettonica”, hosted by Ponzio in Rome, our Associate Director Silvia Turati, Project Leader of the intervention, shared the story behind this design process, highlighting the fundamental role of colour in the dialogue between conservation and innovation.

For us, redevelopment means exactly this: breathing new life into existing architectural heritage, enhancing its identity through every design decision, down to the smallest detail.

We would like to thank Ponzio for the invitation and for this valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and perspectives.
